The National Service Scheme has been functioning in our Polytechnic College from 1987 with a goal to provide “Education through community service and community service through Education”. There are presently two units each comprising 100 volunteers. The NSS has the distinction in developing the students by creating social consciousness, on the social issues and building up strategies to tackle them. Seminars and Workshops on the current social issues such as AIDS awareness, Rain water harvesting, Drug abuse, etc are held on the campus. Regular activities such as temple cleaning, rendering a helping hand to the police for traffic management and special activities such as a ten day camp at the adopted village, organizing health check-up camp, blood donation camp, imparting vocational training to youth and fine arts to women are carried out every year.
