NSS DAY CELEBRATIONS

NSS Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai and V. Ramakrishna Polytechnic College, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai organize Inter Polytechnic College level, NSS Day celebrations on 24.09.16. Around 100 NSS Volunteers and 20 Program officers from 20 Polytechnics will participate. The Program will be inaugurated in the presence of Thiru C. Samuel Chelliah, Regional Director, Regional Directorate of NSS, GOI, Chennai, Dr.S. Rajasekaran , State NSS Officer, TN State NSS Cell and Dr.V. Seetharaman, Program Coordinator, NSS, DOTE . Resource persons Mr. V.G. Chandrasekaran will speak on Ethics & Values, V.Anuradha will provide tips on enhancing employability skills & A. Shanmuga Sundaram will talk on Personality Development & Leadership Qualities. Volunteers will also participate in Essay writing & Painting competition.

Around 500 students from all departments (Mechanical, Automobile, EEE, ECE Computer and Civil) and members’ of staff were participated.
Total number of students was divided in to 3 batches; each batch contains around 170 students. All three batches are allowed one after another to this programme. The Principal I/c Mr. M. Sundaravadivel elaborated on priority of Yoga. He also advised, the practice of Yoga enhances personal power, helps in attention, focus and concentration. Removes negative blocks from the mind and toxins from body.
NSS Programme Officer Mr. T. Dhinagaran-emphasized the need of Yoga practice for healthy life style. He also explained importance and benefits of Yoga in prevention of diseases occurring due to stress and tensions in modern life.
Experienced Yoga trainers, Master Nandakumar and Priya from Isha Yoga and Meditation center clearly explained various types of Yogas. They elaborated on practicing Yoga helps in controlling an individual’s mind, body and soul. Yoga asanas build strength, flexibility and confidence. Regular practice on yoga can help lose weight, relieve stress, improve immunity and maintain a healthier life style. They also talked about precautions to be taken while practicing yoga exercises. Some basic asanas in Yoga were demonstrated by them to the participants. Later participants were asked to practice Yoga asanas under the guidance of Yoga tainers.
At the end of programme, all participants feel rejuvenated and energized. Thus, Yoga bestows upon every aspirant the powers to control body and mind.
